Oxford
- ancient seat of learning, birthplace of Oxfam, Mensa and the
Mini, that iconic British car. The City of Dreaming Spires, is
famous the world over for its Universities and place in History.
For over 800 years, it has been a home to royalty and scholars,
and since the 9th century an established town, although people
are known to have lived in the area for thousands of years. Nowadays,
the city is a bustling cosmopolitan city with a mixture of ancient
and modern.
Here your guide will take you on a walking tour past some historic
buildings or museums and include a visit into one of the ancient
colleges. During your tour you will hear about life at Oxford,
both past and present, and about some students who have studied
there, including Bill Clinton in the 70s.
Stratford upon Avon
- situated in the heart of England. Here you will visit both the
birthplace of William Shakespeare and the cottage where he courted
Anne Hathaway in the village of Shottery. You will have time to
explore this charming market town with its variety of shops, eating
places and 16th century buildings. Stratford is the home of the
Royal Shakespeare Company, which regularly performs plays written
by the Bard in one of the three theatres of which
Stratford is proud.
The Cotswolds -
Your tour ends with a drive through the Cotswolds, one of the
most beautiful areas of England. You will see charming villages
with their thatched stone cottages and pretty gardens as well
as medieval churches. No area of comparable size in Britain has
more enchanting small towns and villages than the Cotswolds.
