tour to the glorious west of Ireland, through Galway (the
City of the Tribes), Clifden (the Capital of Connemara) and
Westport on island studded Clew Bay.
ITINERARY Check in Dublin Heuston station (Customer Service Desk) 07:00 for InterCity train to Galway (breakfast available). We traverse Ireland's midlands, with its vast tracts of peat (turf) boglands, crossing the mighty Shannon River at Athlone. On arrival in Galway we transfer to our waiting coaches and strike out into the magnificent scenery of this region known as Connemara. Lakes, mountains, stone walls and thatched cottages - are all there for you to behold. We stop at Leenane on the shores of Killary Harbour (Ireland's only fjiord). Time for lunch and shopping at stunning Kylemore Abbey before continuing on to Clifden the capital of Connemara. We continue on through the Twelve Bens and Maamturk mountain ranges to Westport on island studded Clew Bay for our return InterCity train (snack car available) to Dublin arriving at 22:00.
